The limits we check

Up to 2,200 characters and 20 @ mentions in a caption (Meta's developer documentation). Up to 5 hashtags on a post, and up to 5 hashtags and 5 @ mentions in a comment (Instagram Help). Instagram has not said whether the caption and comments share the 5, so we suggest 5 or fewer in all.
