How to use the YouTube Playlist Planner

Read what the guide says

This is the YouTube Playlist Planner.

Group your videos into playlists by topic, keep parts in order, and draft each playlist's description.

Paste your video titles, one per line,

adding a link or video ID after a | if you want it in the CSV,

and enter your business or channel name. Or click "Try an example".

Or press Try an example to fill in sample details.

Choose "Plan my playlists", then rename the playlists,

move videos between them and use the arrows to put each one in the order you want.

Set each playlist's visibility and edit its description,

then copy the plan or download the CSV and create the playlists on YouTube.

It runs in your browser, so nothing you type is uploaded.

Try it free on this page.

Runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and it never signs in to YouTube.

To get links in the CSV, add the video's link or ID after a |, for example: Does a root canal hurt? | youtu.be/VIDEO_ID. Up to 500 videos.

Used in the descriptions. When titles include it, it is not treated as a topic.

About the YouTube Playlist Planner

Paste your channel's video titles, one per line, with a link or video ID if you have one, and add your business or channel name. The planner groups the videos by the words their titles share, keeps numbered parts such as "Part 2" in order and suggests a plain name for each playlist. Rename playlists, move and reorder videos, choose each playlist's visibility and edit a description template, then copy the plan or download it as CSV. It runs in your browser and never signs in to YouTube.

How it works

  1. Step 1

Paste your video titles, one per line, adding a link or video ID after a | if you want it in the CSV, and enter your business or channel name. Or click "Try an example".

  2. Step 2

Choose "Plan my playlists", then rename the playlists, move videos between them and use the arrows to put each one in the order you want.

  3. Step 3

Set each playlist's visibility and edit its description, then copy the plan or download the CSV and create the playlists on YouTube.

YouTube's playlist limits

A playlist title can be up to 150 characters and cannot contain < or >, and a description can be up to 5,000 characters. Each playlist is public, unlisted or private, and only you can view a private one. Unlisted videos can go in a public playlist, but private videos cannot. YouTube also limits how many public playlists a channel can create each day.

How to group videos for viewers (our checklist)

Group videos by the topic or question a viewer comes with, such as dental implants or braces. Put the video that answers the most common question first and keep numbered parts in order. Give each playlist a plain title and a short description of what it covers and who it is for, then link the playlist in your video descriptions and end screens.

What this tool cannot do

It cannot create playlists on YouTube or see your channel: it works only on the titles you paste, and it does not sign in to YouTube or use its API. It groups videos by the words in their titles with fixed rules, not AI, so check each group and move videos where they fit better. Your plan is kept in this browser only.

Frequently asked questions

How long can a YouTube playlist title be?

Up to 150 characters, and it cannot contain < or >. A playlist description can be up to 5,000 characters. The planner counts both for every playlist as you type and flags anything over the limit.

Can private videos go in a public playlist?

No. Unlisted videos can go in a public playlist, but private videos cannot. A playlist has its own visibility too: if the playlist is private, only you can view it. Choose public, unlisted or private for each playlist in the planner to see what applies.

Can others add videos to my playlist?

Yes, if you invite them: choose Share, then Invite collaborators. The playlist must be public or unlisted, not private. Collaborators can add videos and remove the videos they added.

What are shows on YouTube?

Shows add seasons and episodes to a playlist. For a series, such as a treatment explained in several parts, you can use "Add show features" on its playlist to turn it into a show. Plan the episodes and their order here first.

How should I order videos in a playlist?

Our suggestion: start with the video that answers your viewers' most common question about the topic, then go from basic to detailed, with numbered parts in order. The planner puts overview videos and Part 1 first; use the arrows to change the order.
