About the Google Ads Account Audit
Drop the campaigns, keywords, search terms and ads reports you export from Google Ads, in any order, and answer a short checklist of settings a report cannot show. The audit finds spend with no conversions, campaigns held back by budget or Ad Rank, low Quality Score, broad match without Smart Bidding, thin ad groups and weak ads, ranks them by the money at stake in rupees and gives a plain fix for each. Nothing is uploaded.
How it works
-
Step 1
In Google Ads, download the Campaigns, Keywords, Search terms and Ads tables as CSV for the same date range. Any one of them is enough to start.
-
Step 2
Drop the files here, add your target cost per conversion if you have one, and answer the settings checklist: tracking, auto-tagging, locations, networks, assets and more.
-
Step 3
Work through the "do these first" list, open each check for its fix, then download the findings as CSV or copy a summary for your team or client.
What the audit checks
From your exports: conversions, campaigns limited by budget, impression share lost to budget or rank, cost per conversion against your target, keywords and search terms that spent without converting, Quality Score, keyword status, broad match keywords in campaigns without Smart Bidding, ads per ad group, Ad strength and disapproved ads. From the checklist: conversion tracking, auto-tagging, enhanced conversions, location options, search partners, the Display Network, negative keyword lists, assets, ad schedule and landing page speed.
How the score and the ranking work
The audit score is our measure, not a Google rating: checks that pass count fully and checks to improve count half, weighted by how much each one matters. The "do these first" list is ranked by money at stake: spend with no conversions, cost above your target, and budget a well-converting campaign could use. Thresholds such as a Quality Score of 4 or less are our suggestions and are marked as ours.
What it cannot do
It only sees the exports and answers you give it, so it cannot check anything outside them, such as audiences or device bids, and it never signs in to Google Ads. Costs are as exported; in India, 18% GST is added on top of ad costs on your invoice. Performance Max, Display and Video campaigns are covered only through the columns they share with Search campaigns.
Frequently asked questions
How do I audit my Google Ads account?
Start with tracking: check that conversions are recording, because every other number depends on them. Then look for money that brings nothing back, such as search terms and keywords with spend and no conversions, and campaigns above your target cost per conversion. Next check budget and Ad Rank limits, Quality Score, ads per ad group and settings such as locations and networks. This tool runs those checks on your own exports.
Which Google Ads reports do I need to export?
Any one is enough to start, and each adds checks. The Campaigns report gives budget status, impression share and bid strategy; the Keywords report gives keyword spend and Quality Score; the Search terms report shows searches to block; the Ads report shows Ad strength and disapproved ads. Download each table as CSV for the same date range and drop them here together.
What does "Limited by budget" mean in Google Ads?
It means the campaign is running but shows ads less often than it could because of its budget. Search lost IS (budget) shows the share of times your ads did not show on Search for the same reason. If the campaign converts at a good cost, more budget there is a sensible first step; if not, cut wasted spend before adding money. Google does not raise budgets for you.
Is the audit score a Google score?
No. It is our own measure from your exports and answers: each check that passes counts fully and each one to improve counts half, weighted by how much it matters. Google's own ratings, such as Quality Score and Ad strength, are shown in your account, and the audit reads them from your exports. Use our score to track progress between audits, not to compare accounts.
Does the tool see or change my Google Ads account?
No. It never signs in to Google Ads and does not use the Google Ads API. You download the reports yourself and open them here, where they are read in your browser and not uploaded. Your checklist answers stay on the page too. To make changes, follow the fix in each check in Google Ads or Google Ads Editor.
