Google recommends 720 × 720 px for Business Profile photos, as JPG or PNG from 10 KB to 5 MB. The larger size gives sharper text.

About the Google Business Profile Post Maker

Choose an update, offer or event, type your headline and details, and add your logo and a photo if you like. You get the text for each box in Business Profile with a live count, checks against Google's post rules (such as no phone number in the text), six image designs to download as PNG or JPEG, and four post ideas for the next four weeks. It runs in your browser: nothing is uploaded, and it never signs in to your profile.

How it works

  1. Step 1

Pick the post type, your business type and the language, then type the headline, the details and, for an offer or event, the dates.

  2. Step 2

Add a button and link, your logo and a photo, choose a design and colours, and fix anything the checks flag.

  3. Step 3

Download the image. In your Business Profile, select Posts, then Add post, and copy each field into the matching box.

Update, offer or event

Business Profile has three post types. An update can carry a description, a photo or video and a button with a link. An offer needs a title, dates and times, and gets a "View offer" button by itself; you can add a coupon code, a link and terms. An event needs a title and start and end dates; without times, it shows as lasting all day. Google archives posts older than 6 months unless they have a date range.

What gets a post rejected

Google reviews posts after you publish them, and a post that is not approved does not show on Search or Maps. Its posts policy does not allow a phone number in the text: add a "Call now" button, which uses your profile's verified number, instead. Google may also remove posts with unverified email addresses or social media handles, and does not allow links to malware or phishing. Businesses in regulated industries, such as alcohol, tobacco or fireworks, can post but should not post about those products.

What this tool cannot do

It does not sign in to Google or post for you, and it cannot know how Google will judge your post: the checks are our checklist, built on Google's published rules. Google's help gives no length limit for post text, so the count is a guide, and the button names in your profile may differ slightly from ours. The images are square, at 720 × 720 px (Google's recommended size for Business Profile photos) or 1440 × 1440 px; Google publishes no separate size for post images. The weekly ideas are our suggestions.

Frequently asked questions

Can I put my phone number in a Google Business Profile post?

Not in the text. Google's posts policy says post content should not include a phone number, and its help says a post with a number that cannot be verified as the business's might be rejected. Choose the "Call now" button instead: it uses the phone number on your verified profile.

What does an offer post need?

A title, start and end dates, and times. Google adds a "View offer" button by itself. You can also add a description, a photo or video, a coupon code, a link to redeem the offer, and terms and conditions. This tool gives you each of those as a separate field to copy.

How long do Google Business Profile posts stay up?

Google's help says posts older than 6 months are archived unless a date range is set. Offers and events have dates; an update does not. Posting once a week keeps your profile fresh: that is our suggestion, not a Google rule.

What size should a Google Business Profile post image be?

Google's photo guidelines for Business Profiles ask for JPG or PNG files between 10 KB and 5 MB, with 720 × 720 px recommended and 250 × 250 px the minimum. Google publishes no separate size for post images, so this tool draws square images at 720 or 1440 px and tells you if a file is over 5 MB.

Can I schedule Google Business Profile posts?

Yes. When you create the post, turn on "Schedule this post" and pick the date and time it should go live; the "Repeats" menu repeats a post weekly, monthly or on a custom schedule. Posts show on Google Search and Maps: in the Updates or Overview tab on phones, and under "From the owner" on computers.
