Runs in your browser. It only sees the comments you paste here.

One per line as "@handle comment", or paste blocks copied from the Instagram or Facebook app or website. Lines such as "Reply", "2d" and "3 likes" are skipped.

A CSV needs a username (or name) column and a comment column.

With one per comment, more comments give more chances, but a person can still win only once.

Tags are counted as @mentions. For several words or hashtags, put commas between them; all are needed.

Leave empty for a new draw. With the same comments and rules, a seed gives the same winners.

About the Giveaway Winner Picker

Paste the comments from your Instagram or Facebook giveaway, one per line as "@handle comment" or copied from the app, or open a CSV export. Set the rules: how many winners and backups, one entry per person or per comment, how many people an entry must tag, a word or hashtag it must include, and handles to leave out, such as your team. The tool shows every entry and who was removed and why, then picks the winners with your browser's secure random generator and gives you a draw record with a seed, so the same list and seed always give the same winners. It also lists Meta's rules for promotions. It only sees the comments you paste: it cannot fetch them, and it runs in your browser.

A fair draw you can repeat

Your browser makes a random seed with crypto.getRandomValues, its secure random generator. The picks are worked out from that seed so that every entry has exactly the same chance, with no lean towards the start or the end of the list, and a person who wins is taken out before the next pick. The draw record shows the seed and a check code for the entry list: anyone who pastes the same comments, sets the same rules and enters the seed gets the same winners.

Meta's rules for giveaways

Instagram's promotion guidelines make you responsible for running a giveaway lawfully, with official rules, offer terms and eligibility, and ask for a complete release of Instagram by each entrant and a statement that Instagram does not sponsor, endorse or run it. They also ask you not to encourage inaccurate tagging. On Facebook, Meta's Pages, Groups and Events Policies have the same release and statement, and say a promotion must not require or reward sharing, reposting or tagging others, so "tag your friends to enter" is not allowed there.

What this tool cannot do

It only sees the comments you paste or open. It cannot fetch comments, check that entrants follow you or liked the post, or see replies that were not copied. Tags are counted as @mentions, so Facebook name tags copied without an @ are not counted. It does not cover India's laws on lotteries and prize competitions, so ask a lawyer before a big giveaway. Nothing is sent to Instagram, Facebook or us.

Frequently asked questions

Is this picker really random?

Yes. The seed comes from crypto.getRandomValues, the browser's secure random generator, and any number that would favour some entries over others is thrown away and drawn again, so every entry has the same chance whatever its place in the list. Because the draw comes from the seed, you can show it was not changed: the same list, rules and seed always give the same winners.

Can I ask people to tag friends to enter?

Not on Facebook. Meta's Pages, Groups and Events Policies say a promotion must not require or reward tagging others, and the older wording names "tag your friends in this post to enter" as not permitted. On Instagram, the promotion guidelines ask you not to encourage inaccurate tagging. Our suggestion: if you ask for tags on Instagram, ask people to tag only friends who would really want to know.

How does it read comments copied from Instagram?

It looks for an @handle at the start of each line. In blocks copied from the app or the website, it skips lines such as "Reply", "2d" and "3 likes", and reads the first line after them as the name. You can also open a CSV export with a column for the username and one for the comment. Lines it could not read are listed, so you can fix them.

What should I do if a winner does not reply?

Pick backups in the same draw and say in your rules how long a winner has to reply. Our suggestion: give a clear deadline, such as 48 hours, then contact the first backup, and keep the draw record and the comment list in case anyone asks how the winners were chosen.

Does a giveaway need official rules?

Yes, on Instagram and Facebook. Meta's rules make you responsible for the official rules, the offer terms and eligibility, such as age and where entrants must live, and any approvals the prizes need. The rules must include a complete release of Instagram or Meta by each entrant and say the giveaway is not sponsored or run by them. For a YouTube giveaway, use our YouTube Giveaway and Contest Checklist.
