Read what the guide says

This is the Pinterest Pin Title and Description Writer.

Turn your topic and keywords into Pin titles, descriptions and alt text that fit Pinterest's limits.

Type what the Pin shows and your keywords, main one first,

the page it links to and a call to action. Or try the example.

Or press Try an example to fill in sample details.

Pick one of the 5 titles and one of the 3 descriptions. The bars show each title's length and the 40-character mark Pinterest gives for feeds.

Edit the Pin under "Your Pin", fix what the checks flag, then copy the title, description,

alt text and link into the Pin builder on Pinterest.

It runs in your browser, so nothing you type is uploaded.

How it works

  1. Type what the Pin shows and your keywords, main one first, then add who it is for, your business, the page it links to and a call to action. Or try the example.

  2. Pick one of the 5 titles and one of the 3 descriptions. The bars show each title's length and the 40-character mark Pinterest gives for feeds.

  3. Edit the Pin under "Your Pin", fix what the checks flag, then copy the title, description, alt text and link into the Pin builder on Pinterest.

About the Pinterest Pin Title and Description Writer

Type what the Pin shows, your keywords with the main one first, who it is for, the page it links to and a call to action. You get 5 title options and 3 descriptions in English or Hinglish, each counted against Pinterest's limits of 100 characters for a title and 800 for a description, a check that your main keyword sits in the first 40 characters of the title, alt text from what the image shows, and a check of the link with optional UTM tags. Pick a title and a description, edit them, and copy the finished Pin. It uses fixed templates, not AI, runs in your browser and never signs in to Pinterest.

The limits it checks

Pinterest Help gives a Pin title up to 100 characters and a description up to 800, and says that, depending on the device, the first 40 characters of a title may show in feeds. Descriptions do not show in the home or search feed; Pinterest uses them to decide who sees the Pin. Alt text explains what people can see in the Pin, up to 500 characters, and screen readers read it out. Pinterest's API caps a Pin link at 2,048 characters.

How the titles and descriptions are made

They come from fixed templates for four kinds of Pin: a product, a list of ideas, a guide and an offer, in English or Hinglish written in Latin letters. Your main keyword goes first where it fits, your other keywords go into the descriptions, and the call to action goes last. Titles with the whole keyword in the first 40 characters are listed first. Keyword placement, a call to action and using a keyword once or twice in a description are our suggestions, not Pinterest rules.

What this tool cannot do

It does not sign in to Pinterest, post Pins, or tell you how many people search for a keyword; Pinterest Trends, where it is available for your region, shows how searches for a keyword rise and fall. It cannot see your image, so alt text is only as good as your description of it. Pinterest does not say how it counts characters, so we count them as you see them and warn when another way of counting could go over. If the app shows something different, the app is right.

Frequently asked questions

How long can a Pinterest Pin title and description be?

Pinterest Help gives up to 100 characters for a Pin title and up to 800 for a description. Some older Pinterest pages for ads still mention 500 for descriptions, so if you also run the Pin as an ad, check the ad specs before you go long. The tool counts both and flags anything over.

How much of a Pin title shows in the feed?

Pinterest Help says that, depending on the device, the first 40 characters of a title may show in people's feeds. That is why the tool checks whether your main keyword fits in those 40 characters and shows a preview cut at that point. The full title shows when someone opens the Pin.

Do Pin descriptions show on Pinterest?

Pinterest says descriptions do not show when people see the Pin in the home feed or search feed. It uses them to decide who sees the Pin. So write a clear sentence or two with your keywords and a call to action, rather than a list of words.

What should Pin alt text say?

Pinterest asks you to explain what people can see in the Pin, in up to 500 characters, and screen readers read it to people who cannot see the image. Describe the product, colours, people, setting and any words on the image. The tool builds alt text from your description of the image and flags alt text that only repeats the title.

Can I use a short link or UTM tags on a Pin?

Pinterest Help says it does not allow certain redirects or link shorteners and suggests linking straight to the page, so the tool flags common shorteners. UTM tags on the full link are fine for your own tracking: tick "Add UTM tags" and the tool adds utm_source=pinterest and utm_medium=social, which Google Analytics groups as Organic Social.
