About the Review Request Templates

Pick where you want reviews (Amazon.in, Flipkart, Google or your own shop), how you will ask (WhatsApp, email, SMS or a card in the box) and the language: English, Hinglish or Hindi. Add your shop name and, if you like, the product, the buyer's first name and your review link. You get three ready messages with copy buttons, a printable card with a QR code, and a checklist of the rules that apply, each marked as an official rule with its source or as our own checklist. The templates never offer anything for a review and never ask only happy buyers. It runs in your browser: written templates, not AI, and nothing is uploaded.

What the templates never do

Every message asks for an honest review, good or bad, and treats every buyer the same. None of them offer a discount, cashback, a free product or a draw, ask for five stars, or steer unhappy buyers away from the review. Google's policy bans incentives and review gating for Google reviews, and our checklist applies the same rules to every platform.

Rules and sources

Google's rules come from its Maps content policy and Business Profile Help, WhatsApp's from the WhatsApp Business Policy and Meta's developer documentation, the email guidance from Gmail Help, the SMS rule from TRAI, and the details of Amazon's Request a Review email from an Amazon staff reply on its Seller Forums. In India, IS 19000:2022 sets out how online consumer reviews should be collected and published; the government has said it is voluntary. Each point in the checklist names its source or says it is our checklist.

What this tool cannot do

It does not send messages, connect to Seller Central, Seller Hub, Google or WhatsApp, or see your buyers. Amazon and Flipkart set their own rules for contacting buyers and asking for reviews in their seller help, and these templates do not replace them: read those rules before you send. The message checker matches phrases, so it can miss a problem or flag a harmless word. This is not legal advice.

Frequently asked questions

Can I offer a discount or a gift for a review?

Not for Google reviews: Google's policy does not allow payment, discounts, or free goods or services in return for a review, or for changing or removing one. Google also asks websites not to show reviews given for money, discounts, vouchers or free products unless that is clearly disclosed. Our checklist says to offer nothing on any platform, and none of the templates do.

Can I ask only happy customers for a review?

No. Google calls this review gating and does not allow asking only for positive reviews or discouraging negative ones. In India, the draft order on IS 19000 that the Department of Consumer Affairs consulted on in May 2024 also proposed banning the prevention or discouraging of negative reviews. Ask every buyer, and offer help with problems separately.

How do I get my Google review link?

In your Business Profile, open Read reviews and then Get more reviews to copy a link or get a QR code. Google suggests sharing it on receipts, in thank-you emails, at the end of a chat or as a printed QR code. A Business Profile is only for businesses that meet customers in person, so an online-only shop should ask for reviews on its marketplace or website.

Can I send review requests on WhatsApp?

Only to buyers who gave you their number and agreed to get messages from your business, as the WhatsApp Business Policy requires, and you must stop when they ask. On the WhatsApp Business Platform, messages sent more than 24 hours after a customer last wrote must be approved templates, with a body of up to 1,024 characters. For marketplace orders, check the marketplace's rules on contacting buyers first.

Are fake reviews illegal in India?

India's dedicated standard, IS 19000:2022, was launched in November 2022 and is voluntary. In May 2024 the Department of Consumer Affairs consulted on a draft order to make it mandatory; we found no official notice that it has been finalised (checked October 2026). Separately, Google's policy bans fake reviews, and it can stop a profile from getting new reviews for a time after fake engagement. Never write or buy reviews, and ask a lawyer if you need a firm answer.
