How it works

  1. Fill in your business details and terms once; they stay in this browser. Choose what the tiers count (cartons, packs or boxes) and where each tier starts. Press Try an example to see a list for a made-up millet and spice seller.

  2. Add each product with its MRP, GST rate, MOQ and a price per pack for each tier, or paste rows from a spreadsheet with the column names first. Fix what the checks flag, such as a price with GST above the MRP or a price that goes up at a bigger quantity.

  3. Press Print or save as PDF for the A4 list, copy the WhatsApp text to send to retailers, or download the CSV. Send a new list, with a new validity date, when your prices change.

About the Wholesale Price List Builder

Type your products with the pack size, MRP, GST rate, minimum order and a price for each quantity tier, for example 1–9, 10–49 and 50+ cartons, or paste them from a spreadsheet. Add your terms: whether prices include GST, how long they hold, payment and delivery. The tool works out each price with GST and the retailer's margin on the MRP, checks the list for prices above the MRP, tiers that do not fall and missing details, and gives you an A4 price list to print or save as PDF, a WhatsApp-ready text and a CSV. It runs in your browser: your details and products are saved only in this browser, and nothing is uploaded.

What it works out

Prices are per pack, the unit the MRP is printed on. If your prices are before GST, the price with GST is the price × (100 + rate) ÷ 100; if they include GST, the price before GST is the price × 100 ÷ (100 + rate). The retailer's margin is (MRP − price with GST) ÷ MRP: the share of the MRP left for a retailer who sells at the MRP (our measure). You can set your own margin threshold, and the list can show the margin under each price.

The checks

Rule 18(2) of the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011 says no one, including a wholesale dealer, may sell a pre-packed product above its retail sale price, the MRP inclusive of all taxes, so a price with GST above the MRP is flagged first. The rest are our checks: a price equal to the MRP, a margin below your threshold, a price that rises or stays the same at a bigger quantity, an MOQ that makes a tier unusable, a missing GST rate or MRP, a GST rate other than the main rates (5% and 18%, with 40% for a short list, since 22 September 2025), an HSN code that is not 4, 6 or 8 digits, the same product twice, and a list with no validity date or one that has passed.

What this tool cannot do

It does not know the GST rate or HSN code for your products, or whether your goods are pre-packed under the Legal Metrology rules, so check those with your CA. A price list is not a tax invoice: when you sell, issue a GST invoice with the details in rule 46 of the CGST Rules. It does not send messages or connect to any marketplace or shop. Nothing here is legal or tax advice.

Frequently asked questions

Can my wholesale price be above the MRP?

Not for a pre-packed product. Rule 18(2) of the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011 says no one, including the manufacturer, packer and wholesale dealer, may sell it above its retail sale price, which is the MRP inclusive of all taxes. The tool compares each price with GST to the MRP and flags any above it.

How is the retailer's margin worked out?

Margin = (MRP − your price with GST) ÷ MRP. It is the share of the MRP a retailer keeps if they sell at the MRP. It is our measure: retailers may sell below the MRP, and their own costs are not counted. The tool does not suggest a margin to aim for; the threshold you set is your own.

Should I quote prices with or without GST?

Either, as long as the list says which. Choose "Before GST (GST extra)" or "Including GST", and the list states it above the table, with the note that the MRP is inclusive of all taxes. The tool works out the other figure for each tier.

Do I need the HSN code on a price list?

It is optional here. HSN codes are needed on tax invoices: Notification 78/2020-Central Tax asks for 4 digits when your turnover last year was up to ₹5 crore and 6 digits above that. Adding them to the price list helps retailers who check rates, and the tool flags a code that does not have 4, 6 or 8 digits (our check).

Is my price list saved anywhere?

Your business details, terms and products are saved only in this browser, so they are there next time. Nothing is uploaded. Press Clear everything to remove them. The example does not replace your saved list unless you edit it.
