About the Working Days Calculator (India)

Count the working days between two dates, or add a number of working days to a date to find a delivery date, a project deadline or the end of a notice period. Choose your weekly off (Saturday and Sunday, Sunday only, or Sundays with the second and fourth Saturdays), keep the central government's gazetted holidays for 2026 and 2027 or leave them out, and add your state's holidays and your own closures. You get the count, the end date, month calendars with every holiday marked and a list of the days skipped. It runs in your browser: nothing you type is uploaded.

How it works

  1. Step 1

Choose Add working days to find an end date, or Count between dates, then pick the dates and type the number of working days.

  2. Step 2

Pick your weekly off and the holiday list, and add your state's holidays and your own closures, one per line.

  3. Step 3

Read the end date or the count, check the calendar and the list of holidays skipped, and copy the result.

Which holidays are included

The gazetted holidays for central government offices in Delhi and New Delhi, from the Department of Personnel and Training's lists for 2026 and 2027: 17 a year. Every central government office observes 14 of them, from Republic Day to Christmas Day. The other three are chosen from a list of 12: Holi, Ram Navami and Janmashtami for Delhi, and a committee in each state capital chooses for offices elsewhere. Restricted holidays are optional for each employee, so they are not counted.

How the days are counted

When you add working days, the start date is day zero, so 15 working days after a Tuesday order is the 15th working day after that Tuesday; tick the box to count the start date as day one. When you count between two dates, the end date is counted, and so is the start date unless you untick it. A holiday that falls on a weekly off is listed but not counted twice. Second and fourth Saturdays are those of each calendar month.

What this tool cannot do

It has central government holidays for 2026 and 2027 only, the years our holiday data covers; for other dates it skips only your weekly offs and the holidays you add. State government, bank, school and company holidays differ from the central list, so add your state's holidays yourself. The dates of Id-ul-Fitr, Id-ul-Zuha, Muharram and Milad-un-Nabi can change with the sighting of the moon. It counts days only and is not legal advice on notice periods or contract deadlines.

Frequently asked questions

Are state holidays included?

No. The list is the central government's, for its offices in Delhi and New Delhi. State governments, banks and companies publish their own lists, and even central government offices in other states can differ: in 2026, central government offices in Kerala list Id-ul-Fitr on 20 March, while the Delhi list has 21 March. Add your state's holidays in the box for your own holidays.

How do I find a delivery date 15 working days from today?

Choose Add working days, pick today as the start date, type 15 and choose your weekly off. The tool skips weekly offs and holidays and shows the 15th working day after today. If an order comes in after you close for the day, our suggestion is to start from the next working day.

Does a holiday on a Sunday give another day off?

The tool does not move any holiday. A holiday that falls on your weekly off is listed as already a day off and is not counted twice. In 2027, for example, Independence Day and Milad-un-Nabi are both on Sunday 15 August. If your employer gives another day in its place, add that day as your own holiday.

Can I count a notice period with it?

Yes, if the notice is in working days: choose Add working days and start from the day notice is given. Many notice periods are in calendar days or months instead, so check the wording of the contract or the rules that apply to you. The tool counts days only and is not legal advice.

Why are there no central holidays after 2027?

The Department of Personnel and Training publishes each year's list in the July before: the 2026 list on 3 July 2025 and the 2027 list on 16 July 2026. Our data covers those two years. For other dates the tool still skips your weekly offs and the holidays you add, and says that no central government holidays were applied.
