About the YouTube Partner Program Calculator
Enter your subscribers, public watch hours from the last 12 months, Shorts views from the last 90 days and recent uploads, from YouTube Studio. The calculator checks them against both levels of the YouTube Partner Program in India, fan funding and Shopping at 500 subscribers and ad revenue at 1,000, including the higher requirements YouTube has announced for new applicants from 1 February 2027. It shows what is left, in your browser.
How it works
-
Step 1
In YouTube Studio, note your subscribers, watch hours (last 12 months), Shorts views (last 90 days) and public uploads (last 90 days).
-
Step 2
Enter them here; if you only know views, estimate watch hours from views and the average view duration.
-
Step 3
See which level you meet, what is still needed, and the other requirements to check before you apply.
The two levels in India
With 500 subscribers, 3 public uploads in the last 90 days, and either 3,000 public watch hours in the last 12 months or 3 million public Shorts views in the last 90 days, a channel can apply for fan funding (memberships, Super Chat, Super Stickers and Super Thanks) and Shopping. Ad revenue needs 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 watch hours in 12 months or 10 million Shorts views in 90 days.
The change from 1 February 2027
YouTube has announced that new applicants for ad revenue from 1 February 2027 will need 1,000 subscribers and either 8,000 watch hours in the last 365 days or 20 million Shorts views in the last 90 days. Channels already in the programme keep their status, and the 500-subscriber level does not change.
What counts, and what this tool cannot do
Only public content counts: watch hours from public long-form videos and archived live streams, and public Shorts views. Private, unlisted and deleted videos, views from ads, and Shorts watch hours do not. The calculator uses the numbers you enter; YouTube Studio shows your exact progress, and YouTube reviews each channel before accepting it.
Frequently asked questions
How many subscribers do I need to monetise on YouTube in India?
500 for fan funding and Shopping, with 3 public uploads in the last 90 days and either 3,000 watch hours or 3 million Shorts views; 1,000 for ad revenue, with 4,000 watch hours in 12 months or 10 million Shorts views in 90 days. From 1 February 2027, new applicants for ad revenue need 8,000 hours or 20 million Shorts views.
Do Shorts count towards the 4,000 watch hours?
No. Watch hours from the Shorts feed do not count towards the watch-hour requirement. Shorts have their own route instead: 10 million public Shorts views in the last 90 days for ad revenue, or 3 million for fan funding. Watch hours come from public long-form videos, including podcasts, and archived live streams.
Will the 2027 change affect my channel?
If your channel is already in the YouTube Partner Program, YouTube says it keeps its status. The higher requirements, 8,000 watch hours in 365 days or 20 million Shorts views in 90 days, apply to channels applying for ad revenue from 1 February 2027. The 500-subscriber level for fan funding does not change.
What else do I need besides subscribers and watch hours?
You must follow YouTube's channel monetisation policies, live in an eligible country such as India, have no active Community Guidelines strikes, turn on 2-Step Verification for your Google Account, have access to advanced features, and link one AdSense account or create one in YouTube Studio. For ad revenue you must be 18 or have a guardian who handles payments.
How do I work out watch hours from views?
Multiply views by the average view duration in minutes and divide by 60. For example, 20,000 views watched for 6 minutes on average is 2,000 hours. Use public long-form views from the last 12 months only; YouTube Studio shows the exact figure for the Partner Program.
