About the Topic Cluster and Pillar Page Planner
Paste a keyword list or upload a Google Keyword Planner download, and add your main topic. The planner groups the keywords by the words they share, picks one pillar page and a page for each cluster, suggests URL slugs, maps the internal links between them and shows which keywords belong on one page rather than two. Add your existing pages and it shows which ones to update instead of writing new ones. It runs in your browser: nothing is uploaded and no AI model is used.
How it works
-
01
Type the main topic, the subject your pillar page will cover, and choose the URL style.
-
02
Paste your keywords, one per line with monthly searches if you have them, or upload a Keyword Planner CSV. Add your existing pages as URL | title lines.
-
03
Check the clusters and change what looks wrong in your plan, then download the plan and the link map as CSV and write each page from a brief.
How the keywords are grouped
Plurals and word order are merged first, and keywords without the topic's words are set aside. A keyword with a subtopic word, such as "full mouth" or "all on 4", joins the subtopic most keywords share. Others join their question type: cost, process, recovery, risks or comparisons. Keywords that only name the topic, a place or "near me" belong on the pillar. A cluster needs two keywords, or 5% of the list's searches, for a page of its own; smaller ones become sections. This is our method, not Google's.
How the pages link to each other
The pillar covers the whole topic in short sections and links to every cluster page; each cluster page links back to the pillar and to up to two close cluster pages. Google says every page you care about should have a link from at least one other page on your site, that links should be a elements with an href so Google can follow them, and that link text should be descriptive and reasonably concise. The link text we suggest is each page's main keyword: reword it so it reads naturally.
What this tool cannot do
It groups keywords by their words, not their meaning, so it cannot tell that two words mean the same thing unless they are on its short list of synonyms, and it may split or join a cluster you would not. It does not see search results, your site or your competitors. Google does not define pillar pages or topic clusters: the plan is our suggestion for organising a topic, and each page still has to be worth reading.
Frequently asked questions
What is a topic cluster?
A topic cluster is a group of pages on one subject: a main page, often called a pillar page, that covers the whole topic, and several cluster pages that each go deeper into one part of it, all linked to each other. It is a way to organise your site and your writing plan; Google does not use the term.
Should every keyword get its own page?
No. Keywords that ask for the same thing in other words, for another city or in another word order belong on one page. Google's spam policies treat pages created to rank for specific, similar searches as doorway abuse, including pages targeted at specific cities that funnel visitors to one page. The planner lists the keywords that should share a page.
Can I upload a Google Keyword Planner file?
Yes. Download your keyword ideas from Keyword Planner as a CSV file and upload it; it is read in your browser. The keyword and average monthly searches columns are used, and a range such as 1K – 10K counts as its lower number. You can also paste any list, one keyword per line.
Should cluster pages sit in a folder under the pillar?
It is a common choice, and Google's SEO Starter Guide says using folders to group similar topics can help Google learn how often the URLs in each folder change. Flat URLs work too. Google's URL guidance asks for descriptive words with hyphens between them; whichever style you pick, keep it the same across your site.
Can I plan Hindi or Hinglish keywords?
Yes. Words in Devanagari stay whole, and common Hinglish words such as kharcha and kimat are read as cost. Slugs keep Hindi letters if your keyword has them, but such URLs turn into long %-codes when copied or shared, so you may prefer English or Hinglish words in the URL (our suggestion).
