Or press Try an example to fill in sample details.

Add the video's title and link, and choose how many sections and key points you want.

Rewrite the headings in your readers' words,

No AI, the video's own words

This tool does not write the article. It finds where the talk changes topic and picks sentences, questions and quotes from the transcript by our measure, then leaves the writing to you.

Paste a transcript to start

Or open a caption file. The outline appears here: headings, the video's key sentences under each, questions, quotes, and a Markdown or HTML copy.

About the Video to Blog Outline

Paste the transcript of your YouTube video, with or without times, or open its caption file, and add the video's title and link. You get an article outline: headings where the talk changes topic, the video's own key sentences under each, the questions asked in the video, quotes with links to the moment they are said, an introduction and summary for you to write, and the embed code. Copy it as Markdown or HTML. It runs in your browser and writes no new sentences: the article is yours to write.

How it works

  1. 01

On YouTube, open the video, click Show transcript in the description and copy the lines, or download the caption file from YouTube Studio. Paste them in, or open the file.

  2. 02

Add the video's title and link, and choose how many sections and key points you want.

  3. 03

Rewrite the headings in your readers' words, then copy the outline as Markdown or HTML and write each part as an article.

How the outline is made

The tool reads the times and sentences in the transcript, sets aside the greeting at the start and the sign-off at the end, and splits the rest where the words change: it prefers a break where the words before and after share least, and where a question or a word such as "Next" starts a new part (our method). A question that opens a part becomes its heading; otherwise the heading is built from the words used most in that part. Under each heading are the sentences with the most topic words, numbers and advice, by our measure.

Why a transcript is not yet an article

People speak differently from how they read: talk repeats itself, wanders and points at what the viewer can see. Google's guidance on helpful, people-first content asks whether a page gives original information and first-hand expertise, and adds real value instead of only rewriting a source. So the outline keeps the video's words as notes and leaves prompts in square brackets for what you need to write, show and check.

What this tool cannot do

It does not watch the video, fetch the transcript or sign in to YouTube: you paste the text or open a caption file. It groups sentences by the words they share, not by meaning, so a heading can start a little early or late; check each one against the video. Transcripts with little punctuation, such as many automatic captions, give rougher key points. It does not write or rewrite sentences, and it does not use AI.

Frequently asked questions

How do I copy the transcript of a YouTube video?

On YouTube, open the video and click Show transcript in its description, then select the lines in the transcript panel and copy them. The option shows only on videos with captions. If it is your own video, you can also download the captions from YouTube Studio: Subtitles, choose the video, Edit next to the language, then Options and Download subtitles. This tool reads .srt, .vtt and .sbv files.

Does this tool write the blog post for me?

No. It does not use ChatGPT or any other AI model, and it does not write new sentences. It arranges the video's own sentences under headings, picks questions and quotes, and adds fixed prompts for the parts you need to write: the introduction, each section in full, and the summary.

Can I just publish the transcript as a blog post?

You can, but it rarely makes a good article: spoken words repeat and depend on what the viewer sees. Google's spam policies count many pages made mainly to rank, with little value added, as scaled content abuse however they are made. Use the transcript as notes and write a page that is useful on its own, with the steps, photos and details the video shows.

How do the time links work?

Each time in the outline links to the video at that moment, the same kind of link that Share and "Start at" make on YouTube. Add the video's link to get them. If the transcript has no times, the outline still has headings and key points, but no time links.

Should I embed the video in the article?

It usually helps readers who would rather watch. Google can find a video placed with an iframe, video, embed or object element on a public page. Google shows most video features, such as a video thumbnail in results, for pages where the video is the main content, so an article page may not get them. For a YouTube embed, Google says it may index the video both on your page and on YouTube.
